Reflections
for Flute, Oboe, Clarinet - 7:30
Reflections is a single-movement impromptu that takes the listener through a journey of self discovery. Written for the intimate colors of a woodwind trio - flute, oboe, and clarinet - the piece blends distinct musical landscapes, shifting through the open spaces of the pentatonic scale, the dreamlike float of the whole-tone scale, and the rich, exotic warmth of Arabian-influenced modes. The music captures the raw moments of looking back at past mistakes, the quiet clarity of transforming those stumbles into valuable lessons, and the surge of hope and renewal that comes when preparing to start over again.
